In general, there are three types of bancha.
Atama-yanagi-bancha: “atama” literally means head. The “yanagi” literally means willow but in this case, it refers teas for brewing in boiling water. This type of tea is produced from large leaves filtered out during the finishing process of sencha.
Mebancha: produced from the buds came out late after picking the first flush leaves.
Karibancha: produced from the leaves came out after shallow cut of leaves.
