Our Kamairi-cha comes from Gokase-cho, Miyazaki, Kyushu island where is well known for producing excellent Kamairi-cha. The producer and also a farmer, Mr Miyazaki, started cultivating tea without any pesticide in 1983. Since then, he dedicated his life to growing tea organically and producing the best Kamairi-cha in traditional way, not using the automated machines, which requires robust process. Now he is one of the few artisans who can produce Kamairi-cha in this manner. He obtained JAS organic certification in 2001 and was awarded the Emperor’s Cup at the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries show in 2002.
