Description:
This vase is called haikaburi style. The haikaburi is literally translated
as "ash-covered". In ascending kiln (wood fired kiln), some potteries
are placed around the firing area. During firing, wood ashes fall on these
potteries and melt into a natural glaze that creates the charm of austere
refinement. Since these potteries are placed inch away from the stoking
space, the most potteries made using this technique are cracked by the
splits of wood. Even though some of them came out from the kiln safely,
number of pieces that fully meets the artist's requirements are only one
or two. There is a sign on the side near the bottom.
Shipped with the artist's signed box in excellent condition.
